Gottfried Weber (general)


Gottfried Ludwig Weber was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a Generalmajor in the Bundeswehr. He was also a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Gottfried Weber was captured by Soviet troops in May 1945 in the Courland Pocket. He was released in 1955 and in 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr. He died onAugust 1958 in an autoaccident in Villach, Austria.
