Greg Van Avermaet

Greg Van Avermaet is a Belgian professional road bicycle racer, currently riding for UCI ProTeam BMC Racing Team. He is a former World No. 1.

Van Avermaet was born into a cyclingcrazed family both his father and grandfather were professional cyclists. He started cycle racing at the age of 19, having previously played football as a goalkeeper. He is a former brotherinlaw of Glenn DHollander, also a former professional cyclist. In 2006, on the BodysolWin For LifeJong Vlaanderen, he was Belgian amateur champion.
