Halsey Powell
Captain Halsey Powell, USN was a United States Navy officer of the first half of the 20th century, who received the Navy Distinguished Service Medal for outstanding performance as a destroyer division commander on convoy duty during World War I.
Powell was bornAugust 1883 in McAfee, Kentucky, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1904. During the next years he served on such famous battleships as USS160Kearsarge, USS160Illinois, and USS160Tennessee and studied at the Naval War College, rising to the rank of captain in 1926.
