Harry Paletta


Harry Paletta was a Hauptsturmfhrer in the Waffen SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Harry Paletta was born in Scholastykowo, West Prussia. He volunteered to join the Waffen SS and was posted to the newly formed SS Division Wiking. He took part in Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union where he was awarded the Iron Cross. He was also awarded the Wound Badge when wounded in August 1941 and the Infantry Assault Badge in February 1942.
