Heinrich Schroeteler

Dr. Heinrich Andreas Schroeteler was a German Uboat commander in World War II and recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross . The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He is credited with damaging one merchant ship, the British steam merchant Riverton, of 7,345160gross register tons160, and sinking one warship, the Norwegian minesweeper HNoMS NYMS382, of 335160GRT. The sinking took place onMay 1945,days after the Uboats had been ordered to surrender.
