Hermann Vezin was an American actor, teacher of elocution and writer. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and educated at the University of Pennsylvania.
Vezin was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles Henri Vezin, a merchant of French heritage, and his wife Emilie . His greatgreatgrandfather Pierre de Vezin was married to the seventeenthcentury French actress Marie Charlotte de Chteauneuf. Rouget de Lisle, the composer of the French national anthem, La Marseillaise, was one of his distant cousins. After studying law for several years, Vezin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with an A.B. in 1847 and later a masters degree in 1850.
