Hunter R. Rawlings III

Hunter Ripley Rawlings III is an American classics scholar and academic administrator who began serving as Cornell Universitys interim president on April 25, 2016 following the death of Elizabeth Garrett. He is best known for serving as the 17th President of the University of Iowa from 1987 until 1995 and as the 10th President of Cornell University from 1995 until 2003. He also served as Cornells interim president in 20052006, and was succeeded by David J. Skorton on July 1, 2006. Currently, Rawlings is Professor and University President Emeritus at the Department of Classics.
