Insiang


Insiang is a 1976 Filipino drama film directed by Lino Brocka, adapted from the teleplay of the same name by Mario OHara who also cowrote the screenplay, which tells of a young povertyridden woman who seeks revenge for those who have ruined her life. The film stars Hilda Koronel, Mona Lisa, Ruel Vernal and Rez Crotez. Insiang is the first Filipino film to enter the Cannes Film Festival. The rights to Insiang was handed over to the Film Development Council of the Philippines by the films producer Ruby Tiong Tan for the councils discussion with Martin Scorseses The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, about restoring the film. The film was selected to be screened in the Cannes Classics section of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
