Leopold of Alpandeire

The Blessed Leopold of Alpandeire, O.F.M. Cap. was a Spanish Capuchin friar whose devotion is very popular among people in southern Spain.

He was born Francisco Toms de San Juan Bautista Mrquez y Snchez onJune 1864, in Alpandeire, Spain, a small village in the province of Mlaga , and was baptized on the followingJune 1864. His parents, Diego Mrquez y Ayala and Jernima Snchez y Jimnez, were industrious peasants. He was the eldest son out of four children from that marriage . His brothers were called Diego and Juan Miguel, and his sister, Mara Teresa.
