Louis Braille French160 January 1809 January 1852 was a French educator and inventor of a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired. His system remains known worldwide simply as braille.
Louis Braille was born in Coupvray, France, a small town about twenty miles east of Paris. He and his three elder siblings Monique Catherine Josephine Braille , LouisSimon Braille , and Marie Cline Braille lived with their mother, Monique, and father, SimonRen, on three hectares of land and vineyards in the countryside. SimonRen maintained a successful enterprise as a leatherer and maker of horse tack.
