Manal Kayiru meaning a rope or thread made of sand is a 1982 Tamil movie directed by Visu. The movie was remade in in 1985 in Kannada as Savira Sullu.

Shekar are the girl should be less educated than him, she should know how to dance, she should be able to cook nonvegetarian, speak Hindi, her family should not drag public into their internal affairs, she should agree to remarry in case she is widowed, she should look appealing only to him but ugly to others.Visu marrys this girl to S.V. Shekar as a good deed, stemming from his own life in the movie of having caused suicide of his fiancee by not agreeing to marry her as she didnt meet conditions he set. ........
