Mariam uz Zamani


MariamuzZamani Begum , a title bestowed to Heer Kunwari, Hira Kunwari or Harka Bai , was an Empress of the Mughal Empire. She was the first Chief Rajput wife of Emperor Akbar , and the mother of the next Mughal Emperor, Jahangir. She was also the grandmother of the following Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and great grand mother of last great ruler Emperor Aurangzeb and Mughal crown prince Dara Shikoh.

Heer Kunwari was born as Rajput princess and was the eldest daughter of Raja Bharmal, of Amer . She was the granddaughter of Raja Prithvi Singh of Amer. Rajkumari Heer Kunwari was also the sister of Raja Bhagwan Das of Amer, and the aunt of Raja Man Singh I of Amer, who later became one of the Nine Jewels in the court of Akbar. Later, both occupied high offices in Akbars court.
