Natalie Dessay is a French opera singer who had a highly acclaimed career as a coloratura soprano before leaving the opera stage onOctober 2013. She dropped the silent h in her first name in honor of Natalie Wood when she was in grade school and subsequently simplified the spelling of her surname.
