Nicholas Schorsch


Nicholas Sloan Nick Schorsch is an American entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. Schorsch is the Chairman, CEO, and cofounder of the investment services firm American Realty Capital. He is often characterized as a pioneer in the alternative investment sector of the financial services industry, particularly due to his influence on the commercial real estate investment space. He has received a number of honors and public recognition for his impact on the industry, including the Ernst amp Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2003 and the Ernst amp Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. He is also regarded as one of the principal figures contributing to the increased appeal and accessibility of commercial real estate investments to individual investors.

Schorsch was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Irvin G. Schorsch, Jr. and Anita Schorsch. Schorsch went to work for his familys scrap metal business at the age ofwhile attending Drexel University fulltime, before taking over ownership of the business entirely. Within six years, Schorsch grew the business into a multimillion dollar enterprise, eventually selling it for a profit of 50 million at age 23. He next founded Thermal Reduction Corporation, a metal product manufacturing business. Over ten years he successfully built up this company through a series of mergers and acquisitions, eventually selling his interests to Corrpro in 1994.
