Oskar Hubert Dennhardt


OskarHubert Dennhardt was a highly decorated Major in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knights Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Dennhardt served in the Landtag of SchleswigHolstein as a Christian Democratic Union politician after World War II. He rejoined the military service in the West German Bundeswehr in 1955, retiring in 1971 holding the rank of Brigadegeneral. He commanded the Panzergrenadierbrigadeof the Bundeswehr fromNovember 1965 toMarch 1968 and was deputy commander of the 6th Panzergrenadier Division.
