Pierre Vincent Valin


PierreVincent Valin was a Quebec businessman and political figure. He represented Montmorency in the Canadian House of Commons as a Conservative member from 1878 to 1887. His name also appears as Pierre Valin.

He was born in ChteauRicher, Lower Canada in 1827, the son of Toussaint Valin, and studied at Quebec. He began working as a shipbuilder in a shipyard on the SaintCharles River in 1846. In 1853, he set up the shipbuilding company Pierre Valin et Compagnie with two partners the partnership ended a year later but Valin continued to build ships. He married MarieAnglique, the daughter of Joseph Talbot, dit Gervais in 1855.
