Ricky Rossell%C3%B3


Ricardo Antonio Ricky Rossell Nevares is a college professor, scientist, economist, writer, athlete, entrepreneur and politician. He is a candidate for the New Progressive Party nomination for Governor of Puerto Rico in the 2016 elections. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan, Rossell is the son of former Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Rossell. He has gained worldwide fame among the scientific and medical community for his work on stem cell regeneration.

Rossell was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of Pedro Rossell, a doctor, and Maga Nevares. Rossell attended Colegio Marista. While in first grade, on the request of his teacher, he had his IQ tested and in spite of receiving an estimated score of 140150, his parents decided not to have him skip grades in favor of a more balanced social life. During his high school years he was an athlete and a threetime junior tennis champion in Puerto Rico. He had exceptional mathematical abilities and was the first Puerto Rican to be selected to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiads. He earned a bachelors degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering and economics, and a doctor of philosophy in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan.
