Sangham


Sangham English Society is a 1954 Telugu romantic comedy film written by V.S.Venkatasalam and directed by M. V. Raman. The film starred Vyjayanthimala, N. T. Rama Rao, S. Balachander and Anjali Devi in the lead while Chittor V. Nagaiah, V. K. Ramaswamy, K. N. Kamlam, K.R. Chellam and K. Sankarapani as the ensemble cast, was produced by A. V. Chettiar of AVM Productions. The films score was composed by R. Sudarsanam, edited by K. Shankar and M. V. Raman and was filmed by T. Muthu Sami.

The success of this movie basked the producer A. V. Chettiar to remade it in Hindi as Ladki with Kishore Kumar and Bharat Bhushan in S. Balachander and Gemini Ganesan role respectively which becomes second highest grossing film of 1953 with verdict hit. The film also made simultaneously in Tamil as Penn with Gemini Ganesan in N. T. Rama Raos role while S. Balachander reprises his role from the original. Among the cast Vyjayanthimala, Anjali Devi and Chittor V. Nagaiah are the only actors to retain their roles in all three languages.
