Swathi Thirunal (film)
Swathi Thirunal is a 1987 Malayalam biographical film cowritten and directed by Lenin Rajendran. It stars Anant Nag in the title role, and Srividya, Nedumudi Venu and Murali in other important roles. The film is based on the life of Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, the Maharaja of the state of Travancore.
The films original music was composed by M. B. Sreenivasan. The film is obviously a musical and it made use of several legendary kritis by Swathi Thirunal, Tyagaraja and Iraiyamman Tampi. The soundtrack features vocals of several renowned singers including M. Balamuralikrishna, who received a State award for his work.
